What are the target causes of Acne Products?

The measures taken to prevent acne can be either medicated or non-medicated. Acne is curable via first-class skin care or drugs. However, medication must only be taken when non-medicated treatments or home remedies do not work.

Acne is basically formed due to excessive oil secretion in the skin. One way of preventing and curing acne is to free the skin of excess oil glands. One of the target causes of acne products is to remove oil from the skin and eradicate all dead skin cells, allowing the skin cells to breathe. Some of the constituents present in acne products that work effectively are benzoyl peroxide, acetone, sulfur, Salicylic acid, resorcinol, alcohol; etc... These ingredients kill the clogged pores, remove dead cells and frees the skin of extra oil. However, they have some side effects as well. They make the skin somewhat dry and can cause scaling and peeling. With time, the skin adapts itself to the acne products and the side effects gradually become non-existent.

Acne treatments take four to six weeks before showing any signs of improvement. The treatment is time-consuming and an elongated process; it does not heal wholly in a day or two. Watchful measures and regular maintenance of the skin is necessary to get optimum benefits from such prolonged treatments.
