Is soap bad for acne?

Soap contains some surfactants that allow the mixture of oil and water. The more the quantity of surfactants better is the soap in removing the oil from the skin. However higher quantities of surfactants is very much responsible for increased dryness of the skin. Generally soaps have a pH in between 9 to 10 whereas the pH level of health skin lies in between 5.6 to 5.8. It has also been seen that harsh soaps contain large amount large amounts of lards (fats) that block the spores. Hence people with oily skin must avoid the use of soaps that are harsh. There are many toners available in the market that helps in maintaining the good pH level. Soaps are not said to have any ingredients that help in reducing acne. However all soaps do not work in same fashion. Majority of them dries the skin making it oil free. But at the same the same time they even take away the moisture from the skin that is required. Some of the soaps are even helpful in removing the dead skin that sits on the clog pores. Accumulation of the dead cells results in more of acne and even delays the process of healing.
