Is acne contagious?Acnes are small reddish boils on the skin that appear mostly on the facial area. There are various causes of the appearance of acne on skin; these include hormonal issues, blockage of skin pores and bad skin hygiene. These factors that cause acne are not transferrable and hence acne is not contagious. Acne is caused as a result of excessive production of sebum from the sebaceous or oil glands that are present in everyone’s skin, this is due to hormonal imbalance and in this kind of a situation people experience an acne problem. Acne is also caused if the pores on the skin get blocked either by dirt and dust or dead cells, this blocks the supply of oxygen from entering the skin and hence the skin erupts into boils or pimples called acne. The occurrence of acne depends on the nature of an individual’s skin and hygiene and is not at all contagious. If the hygiene and health of the skin is not maintained by regular cleansing and proper removal of make up the skin may be more susceptible to acne. When an individual suffers from hormonal imbalance the acne is also more active and this issue can definitely not be passed on from person to person by any kind of contact. |
