Home remedies for treating blackheads

Blackheads can be treated at home. There are a large number of home remedies which can effectively cure and prevent the occurrence of blackheads. The following are of great help:

  1. Gently massage with a paste of baking soda and water. This should be followed with a light moisturizer for a smooth and supple skin.
  2. Soak cotton balls in witch-hazel and use as a cleanser. This is best done two times a day.
  3. A mixture of lime juice and groundnut oil is also known to be very effective.
  4. Use fresh lime juice with warm milk as a face wash.
  5. A paste of radish seeds can be applied overnight. It is very useful.
  6. Applying toothpaste on the affected areas before going to bed reduces any pain and swelling.
  7. Strawberries, rose water, mint, garlic, almond powder, potatoes, boric powder, orange peel, turmeric powder, papaya, basil leaves and fenugreek are all very helpful in the treatment of blackheads. They can be used either as a paste or as a solution, whichever is convenient.

Remember that home remedies do not work overnight. Patience and consistency are the keys. Be regular with whichever home remedy you want to opt for. It goes a long way in effective removal and prevention of any recurrence in the future.
