Acne Described in Common Terms

Acne is a skin disorder that affects millions of people both young and even till around age 30, and includes an over production of the sebaceous glands. This over production causes infection in the hair follicles, which can include blackheads and whiteheads. The oil that is secreted from the sebaceous glands is oil known as sebum, which is stored in the follicle and this when full instead of flowing out of the pores of the skin stays trapped and mixes with bacteria to create an infection deep below the skin.

This oil when trapped and mixed with bacteria can also form what is known as comedones, this to the acne sufferer is blackheads. Blackheads form when the sebum and dead skin cells mix in a pour that is wider than normal, this mixture when mixed with air has a chemical reaction which results in oxidation causing the oil and skin cells to darken in color.
