Acne nodules medications
Acne nodules are quite severe form of acne and may require proper treatment rather than applying scrubs, creams or potions. Some of the treatments include:
• Oral antibiotics: these medications remove the bacteria that are one of the main causes of developing the nodules. Some of the oral antibiotics that are often prescribed by the dermatologists include minocycline, doxycyline, erythromycin and tetracycline. they not only prevent the acne nodules from coming back but also remove other infections present in the body.
• Topical treatments: some of the common medications that are considered in topical treatments are benzoyl peroxide and retinoids. Retinoids work by increasing the shedding of the skin and lessening the development of the pores that cause acne nodules. Apart from this, they also help in reducing wrinkles and fine lines that occurs due to aging. Benzoyl peroxide is also an effective medication that is widely used and combined with various other antibiotics.
• Isotrentin: in case of severe acne nodules, this oral medication is prescribed. It is opted when the over the counter treatment fails to work.
• Intralesional Corticosteroid Injection: these are injected by the dermatologist on the acne nodule in case of deep inflammation. • Phototherapy: many people opt for laser or light treatment. They are expensive but the results are quite positive.
