What are papules and pustules?

Many a times the closed comedones break open and their fillings spread in the neighborhood tissues. In reaction to this, more blood is sent to that area and causes inflammation. This results into swelling and redness in the affected area which looks like papule. So papules are basically small red bumps which are slightly inflamed but do not contain pus. When papules are small they are mostly unseen but you may feel like sandpaper when you’ll touch your skin. When the pus that contains mixture of bacteria, dead cells and white blood cells is sent by the immune system to the papules, they form pustules.

Make sure that you do not touch them as it contains pus. They look like papules with white or yellow pus present in the center. Certainly they are comparatively bigger than papules. As the inflammation increases, the center that is filled with pus tends to swell and become like a balloon. At certain point the pustules burst open and spill out the pus. They are extremely sensitive to touch so avoid popping or any kind of squeezing. There are several natural, home remedies available to get rid of this papules and pustules problem. They might also leave scars if ignored or not treated properly.
